“Now, if reading and citing the inauthentic Israeletica are permissible, why should Muslims do so? What is the point of citing these Israeletica if they do not contain authentic knowledge? Do they matter to understand the Islamic religion? With these questions I formulated the research question for this paper, namely: ‘Does the Bible matter for understanding the Quran?’ As stated scholars differed on the permissibility and wisdoms of citing Biblical verses. In this paper I want to investigate if the Bible can learn us more about the contents of the Quran, and if, in what way.”
